COVID-19 Recovery for All
Immigrant Worker COVID-19 Fund
In March 2020, WeCount! launched a COVID-19 rapid response program to respond to the public health and economic crisis impacting our members and other low-wage immigrant and undocumented workers in South Florida. This work included creating the Immigrant Worker COVID-19 Fund, the first COVID-19 mutual aid fund for undocumented workers and families in South Florida. Since April 2020, our Immigrant Worker COVID-19 Fund has distributed food, PPE, and more than $300,000 in direct cash assistance to undocumented workers and families excluded from COVID-19 stimulus payments, state unemployment insurance, and other basic safety net programs. Our COVID-19 relief efforts are managed by worker leaders in our committees, who participate in its design and implementation.
Note: If you want to support these efforts and stand in solidarity with essential and excluded workers in South Florida, please consider making a donation to our organization! If you are an individual donor, we encourage you to make a general donation, which will help fund our COVID-19 outreach, education, direct services, and advocacy. If you are a foundation or other philanthropic institution, we are continuing to accept grants to provide cash assistance through our Immigrant Worker COVID-19 Fund.
